v6.0 Voice Room is Here — Now You Can Hear the Lie in Real Time
Text-based deception is so last season. Voice Room lets you speak your mind (or your carefully crafted lie) for 60 seconds every day phase. Currently in beta — bugs and bad mic quality included for free.

Remember the good old days when you had to type your lies? When you could spend 45 seconds crafting the perfect alibi, checking your grammar twice, and still getting voted out because you used “definitely” one too many times?
Yeah, we don’t miss them either.
Introducing Voice Room — v6.0’s Biggest Update Yet
We’re turning up the heat (and the campfire volume) with Voice Room, the new game mode where every day phase turns into a real-time voice debate. No keyboards, no backspace, no carefully rephrased sentences — just you, your microphone, and 60 seconds to convince the village you’re not the furry one.
How It Works
When you create a Voice Room, here’s what happens:
- 60 seconds per player, every day phase. That’s one whole minute to plead your case, throw shade at your neighbor, or just dramatically sigh and let the silence do the work.
- Live voice chat — hear everyone’s real voice. Is that a nervous tremor in Player 3’s voice? A suspicious cough from Player 7? Now you can weaponize vocal cues like a true deduction professional.
- Humans only — sorry, bots don’t have vocal cords (yet). Voice Room requires a full lobby of real, warm-blooded humans to start. Grab your friends, your coworkers, your aunt who loves board games — whoever you trust (or don’t trust) to play along.

Why Voice Changes Everything
Let’s be honest — text-based werewolf has its limits. You can’t hear someone’s voice crack when they claim to be the Seer. You can’t detect the 3-second pause that means they’re definitely making up a night vision result. You can’t laugh at how bad someone’s werewolf growl is.
Voice Room fixes all of that:
- Tone of voice matters — finally, the classic “why is your voice shaking?” accusation is available as a legitimate strategy.
- Real-time reactions — watch (well, listen) as people respond to accusations immediately. No more “I was typing!” excuses.
- It’s way funnier — trust us. Nothing beats a werewolf trying to sound innocent while their cat meows in the background.
A Quick Note on the 60-Second Timer
Yes, it’s exactly 60 seconds. No more, no less. We spent a lot of time on this number:
- 30 seconds? Too short. You can barely say “I’m a villager” in 30 seconds if you’re being dramatic about it.
- 90 seconds? Too long. We’ve all been in that game where one person won’t stop talking.
- 60 seconds? Perfect. Enough time to make your case, not enough time to filibuster.
Think of it as the werewolf version of a TED Talk. But with more accusations and fewer slides.
It’s Beta, So Manage Those Expectations
Alright, real talk — Voice Room is still in beta testing. That means:
- There might be bugs. Maybe your voice cuts out. Maybe you can hear an echo of your own voice and it makes you self-conscious. We’re working on it.
- Audio quality varies. Some of you have $500 mics. Some of you are using the built-in mic on your 2018 laptop. We love all of you equally, but the audio quality difference will be noticeable.
- You might need to troubleshoot. If your mic isn’t working, try the classic “turn it off and on again.” If that doesn’t work, try… uh… restarting your browser? Yeah, that’s usually good enough.
We’re rolling this out slowly to make sure it doesn’t explode (metaphorically, we hope). Your feedback is genuinely helpful — if something breaks, tell us. If something works great, also tell us (we like compliments too).
How to Try It
Ready to put your vocal deception skills to the test? Here’s how:
- Head over to game.playwerewolf.net
- Create a new room and look for the Voice Room option
- Invite your friends (remember, humans only — you need a full lobby)
- Hit ready, gather around the campfire, and let the voices begin
Pro tip: If you’re a werewolf, practice your “innocent villager” voice in the mirror first. No, we won’t tell anyone you did that.
What’s Next?
Voice Room is just the beginning. We’ve got big plans for v6.x, including:
- More voice features (we’re not spilling all the tea yet)
- Quality of life improvements based on your beta feedback
- Probably more bug fixes (let’s be real)
So jump in, try not to sound too guilty, and remember: if everyone sounds suspicious, you’re probably playing the game right.
See you around the campfire. 🎙️🐺
